I had a tree stump removed and 6 feet of wire from my 18/8 sprinkler system was damaged. I used two junction boxes with embedded wire nuts and everything worked great. Enough space for the connection of 8 wires and a watertight seal at the cable entry and for the cover. I buried the boxes and don't expect any problems.
