Review on πŸ“· Pixel 2.4GHz Digital Wireless Remote Control S2 Shutter Release for Sony Cameras - Replacement for Sony RM-SPR1 by Erik Haynes

Revainrating 5 out of 5

An essential element for a DSLR.

I use this remote shutter release with my Sony a68 and it works great. I use it to take pictures of small things and turn them into symbols, so I put the camera on the mount and after I have a picture that I want to show on the camera screen, I don't want to put my hand on the camera and press it the shutter button, as this will move the camera slightly. This remote control is perfect for my needs as I can activate the shutter without touching the camera. A few things you might want to know: The shutter button is a two-stage button, just like the button on the camera. So if you press it lightly, the camera activates the autofocus function in the same way as if you half-press the actual camera shutter button. It offers single shot, burst, BULB and 4 second delay modes. I don't see the reason for the 4 second delay as it's a remote shutter release but it's there when you need it. - The slide selector is of poor quality and difficult to move accurately. It also has a short stroke length, making it difficult to ensure you're in the mode you want. The receiver is a bit bulky for what it is, but it has a shoe mount and you can clip it to the camera while recording. The cable is not too short to mount side by side on a tripod. I didn't check the range thoroughly, but it worked from about 30 feet when I needed it. However, since the radio operates at 2.4 GHz, I expect it to work over a longer distance without any problems. The only thing that disappointed me is that it doesn't work in video mode but I do
