I am very impressed with this product! After scrutinizing retinol and searching for every ingredient in Paula's Choice, every element here serves a purpose that's good for the skin, and most importantly, non-irritating. While the high concentration of aloe (the first ingredient is probably just a water substitute) doesn't really help me and I'd like to see some more anti-irritants like oats etc, this cream is amazing. . The packaging is perfect for such a product, with a beautiful design of the vacuum pump, a completely opaque bottle and a stopper that prevents air from entering. This maintains a stable and effective powerful blend of retinol/antioxidants, emollients, skin repair and anti-inflammatory ingredients. I only used it once last night and my skin felt light for a few minutes and then felt soft and smooth when I felt it an hour later. My only concern is that people who are unfamiliar with retinol and have not done their research may not be as careful with this product as they should be. From what I've learned, this retinol should be introduced gradually. Many people recommend starting at a lower concentration (0.1% or less) and using for several months before increasing the concentration. For those new to retinol, I would recommend starting with something weaker and then maybe trying something else after a glass. If you know your skin is tolerant of retinol or is not sensitive, I still recommend applying it once at night after toning and applying a light serum and then not applying retinol or anything else that contains retinol for at least 3 days. Skin can take a long time to react to a powerful ingredient and if you experience persistent flaking, redness or burning, DO NOT use this product. Skin irritation is not beneficial. Period. And please always wear SPF 25+ sunscreen every day, no matter what.
