I was hesitant to remove the original plastic ring at first, but I wouldn't regret breaking it in the process as the original was so scratched . However, it turned out that removing it and installing a new one is very simple. What a huge difference! The keychain piece is kind of just ah, a little bit of plastic, but it fits and it's easy to grab, so I'm going to use that for now. I would prefer something that isn't as thick or with a snap closure like a keychain. But overall very satisfied as my key looks almost new.
