I ordered these lights to use as auxillary back up lights on my utility trailer. Since I wired them to the same wires/circuit that connects the back up lights on my tail lights (positioned right next to them each side), I did not need the supplied harness with the on/off switch that you would normally run inside your vehicle to operate these lights. So, I cannot say how effective that portion of the system is, but it appears well made and long enough to serve it intended purpose. These lights make backing down my long, narrow gravel drive (at night) great deal easier than it's always been before.
