Revainrating 3 out of 5

The average quality of the product, especially for such money.

The product is, shall we say, unique. With obvious advantages and no less striking disadvantages. First, the body. Solid metal, looks good, and, as experience shows, with careful handling, it retains its presentation for a long time, which, given the reluctance of Apple to change the design of its products more than once every 5 years and the presence of an army of fans, allows you to sell a used computer after a couple of years of use more expensive than analogue from non-epl. On the other hand, there are only 2 usb ports, no dvi, not to mention vga, no ethernet, but 2 thunderbolt ports, for which, for all their theoretical merits, there is no periphery. At the same time, the mass is as much as 1.6 kg - it is not an easy task to find an ultrabook today. Second screen. Good resolution, good color gamut, and, although there is glass in front of the screen, it does not glare much. The only downside is the very low maximum brightness. Third, performance. This is in my opinion the most serious drawback of the product. Because the mass and the set of ports are visible in the specifications, and in order to imagine that it is impossible to smoothly scroll the page in the browser on a $ 1600 computer, you need to have . let's say, an open mind. However, in firefox and chrome, even primitive pages with text noticeably slow down. In safari, the situation is better, the text usually scrolls smoothly, pages with a slightly more complex layout are dull, but less than in competing browsers. Fans will say - use safari (the rest, they say, don’t know how to make browsers, and in general the previous generation of the trinity was even more stupid, and you can almost use it), the problem is that safari itself, in my opinion, is hellishly inconvenient. Another keyboard with a strange 2022 layout, with a power button instead of del. The axis to which I personally get used is more difficult than to win8. The cooling system is quiet, but with any noticeable load, the bottom heats up more than we would like. They write (did not check) that wifi normally does not work simultaneously with bluetooth. In general, the product is specific.

Pros
  • Solid case, good screen, capacious battery, quiet, generally pleasant touchpad, the resale price is usually higher than that of analogues
Cons
  • slow, relatively heavy, heats up, strange set of ports, needs adaptation
