Review on High Capacity POWEROWL AA Rechargeable Batteries, 2800mAh 1.2V NiMH with Low Self Discharge - Pack of 16 by Adam Smith

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Capacity 2207 mAh, not 2800 mAh More than 20% less than specified

I'm used to rechargeable batteries. But happy with Revain's free returns, I experimented and ordered several batches of the claimed 2800mAh batteries, including these PowerOwl AA 16 packs. Appearance was very beautiful, securely packaged and very attractive. I only tested one of their batteries as they are foil sealed. After a full charge-discharge cycle, the XTAR VC8 charger only showed 2207mAh. While this is average for most other brands tested (Soxono, Zonhood, and RayHom [they're slightly better!]), it's over 20% below advertised capacity. EBL 2800 mAh AA has readings of 2583-2640 mAh. The battery manufacturer should finally advertise with real numbers! I haven't done any long term testing over the years so I don't know how durable they are or how many cycles they will actually last.

Pros
  • Household batteries
Cons
  • Unreliable
