Review on Sylvania SDVD9805: 9-Inch Dual Screen DVD Player for Enhanced SEO by Joel Young

Poor design - portable audio and video

We tested several DVD players for our car and came to the same conclusion that most, regardless of brand, are cheap and don't last long. To be honest we haven't kept this set long enough to comment on its durability. I knew immediately it would be torture for our purposes, so I sent it back immediately. I will say that the picture and sound were as good as one would expect from a portable DVD player. I think this set works much better for playing 2 separate movies rather than syncing them together. I bought these to play the same movie on both players as I have guys who can't use headphones yet. The big benefit for me was that they also had to be battery powered so didn't have to be constantly plugged in, which is a benefit many other dual players don't have. However, as many have pointed out, the battery life isn't that great. It didn't even last the whole movie, and you only get ONE carload, which doesn't make sense. So if you're on a long car ride (which is what we use our DVD players for) and connected DVD players together to play a single movie, you might just end up charging one at a time, or come up with a plan to watch one connected while running on batteries. To be honest I find it easier to have another brand that comes with a dual charger as there is still at least one connected. The second issue with this set is synchronization. The instructions say NOWHERE how to sync them together. Eventually we were able to figure out exactly how to set up both cables and then you need to use the remote source and the source to sync. So if you lose that remote control, you're out of luck. Other kits we've had just plug in a cable and then it syncs. I'm not sure why this brand makes it so difficult. Also, the movie starts over every time you turn off. Not a big deal for long trips, but if you're just using it for day-to-day activities, it can get annoying pretty quickly. In the end we just decided it was going to be more headaches than they were worth. Revain promptly refunded us in full. But I will say if you buy them for a trip like a lot of people do in advance, be sure to test them as soon as you receive them! This time we decided to buy the Phillips brand from Best Buy and bought the protection. to plan. I'm not usually a fan of protection plans, but with any brand of portable DVD player, you can expect them to fail within a year. Unfortunately a lifesaver for long car journeys with small children!
