Smells terrible. in swim diapers

They seem to be made out of really good material BUT my husband says they smell like patchouli oil. I think they smell like musty oranges. The smell is so intense that you can even smell them from another room. After 3 washes they still stink. I'm afraid to pack them in my luggage next month on vacation. A free lousy glasses repair kit arrived. Really confused why.
