AUOPLUS - 12+4 Surge Protector I bought this 12 outlet surge protector because, like so many other things, you just can't get enough outlets. I bought several of these combo sockets with 6-12 sockets and several USB sockets. USB ports always come in handy because you only plug in a USB cable, not an adapter. Without dedicated USB ports, you (me at least) will inevitably lose the usability of one or more of your outlets to various other bulky and oddly shaped plugs. I would like to say that I have a lot of foresight and that's why I decided to buy this particular item, but I didn't. I bought a surge protector a few months ago from the same brand but half the size and I love it. My original reason for buying it was that it had a couple of regular outlets and a couple of USB ports, was small enough to be mounted under a shelf, had a long power cord, and was very affordable. I was not disappointed. As I went on a hunt for something big, I remembered a small one I got a few months ago and was led to this one. It looks standard, many manufacturers make similar ones. The great foresight that I have already mentioned can be left to the manufacturers. One of the things I HATE about typical surge protectors like this one is that you'll inevitably lose a point or two or kink your cords in funny ways because there's never enough room between each outlet for all sizes and power plug configurations and wall warts. Some manufacturers have chosen to skip the space at the end and create a large gap between the last row and the second next to the last row of sockets to make room for those oddly placed plugs and wall warts. These guys know my pain and they've decided to do something about it. Instead of a large gap at the end to allow the two ports to accommodate large plugs, a 0.5cm gap has been made between each port. When I first saw this gap covering each socket in the shape of a house, I dismissed it as just decoration, but these guys are fucking geniuses! I'm an art director and designer by trade, and very often some of the most innovative changes to what we perceive to be typical design are often simple changes to what we consider normal or standard design. Often this adjustment significantly increases the usefulness of the product. Realizing that this additional 0.5cm spacing was intended to improve a widely used design, I decided to disprove this and packaged the connectors in a way that prevented me from using one or more of the ports, or at least the connectors. or the cable should be slightly pinched at the side or bent in such a way that adding that 0.5cm would be unnecessary. As you can see from my photos I used all the standard plugs, cables and wall warts to fill in all the empty ports and none one of them does not touch the other, and neither of them is crooked or pinched/bent. fit. So hats off, you've built a great device, it's a lot cooler than I initially thought and it's very affordable. So now all you have to do is make a "UPS backup battery" that's as good as the two AUOPLUS surge protectors I already have. The one I have is very old and barely holds up. So I don't believe any device is or can be perfect, so holding back a perfect rating and downgrading something because it didn't achieve the unattainable "EXCELLENT BRAND" is still ridiculous. This surge protector is a must have and it will fit any standard plugs I could fit, you guys deserve this point... get to work with my UPS SURGE DEVICE now! ;)
