Review on Celestron Motor SCT EdgeHD 94155 by Chuck Chen

Revainrating 3 out of 5

All tools required are not included

Standard Phillips screwdriver and wrench Focus motor Unfortunately, point 2 of the installation guide says you must remove three screws from the Remove focus cover on telescope (I have a NexStar 6SE) Head There is a tiny H3 Allen key for these screws (for my scope). Luckily I had one of these. You will need to reuse the same screws to attach the focus motor mounting plate. Come on Celestron. I think almost everyone has a regular Phillips screwdriver, but MANY people don't have an H3 hex wrench. Why not provide the necessary tool (instead of a screwdriver) or at least mention somewhere that one is needed? Before proceeding with the installation, make sure you have a hex wrench to remove the screws on the focus cover. By the way, if you want to use a computer to control the motor, make sure you have a USB 2.0 type. Type AB cable. The USB 3.0 Type A version does not work. Again, Celestron, why use such an outdated connector? Unless you're clinging to those old cables (fortunately I have them), you'll need to buy one to allow the engine to communicate with your computer.

Pros
  • Self-powered when connected to Celestron computer mount, mount provides power Connects directly to computer USB provides power
Cons
