I'm not a music lover. I can't appreciate every nuance of this piece. After a week of listening I can say I have a better understanding of what audiophiles are talking about. How not to be with these beauties? After switching between different earbuds, you will find the one that suits you best. They are comfortable and perfectly isolate you from the environment. It's not that you can't hear someone trying to talk to them, but once the music starts you're in a different world! As a (mediocre) drummer, these headphones saved my ears. I usually listen to music on my phone with cheaper Bose headphones, but my ears started ringing after every 10 minute session. I had tinnitus at first, thanks for the Alice In Chains concert in 2007 so they give me incredible sound with no further damage to my ears. Honestly, it's priceless. So if you're a drummer like me and looking for great sound and hearing protection these are for you. That's how I became an audiophile, or at least a beginner audiophile. I love her! UPDATE (1/3/20) - These beauties are still going strong. Since then I've added several different upgrades/mods to find even better sound - I told you I'm turning into an audiophile! Got custom molds from Sensaphonics that vastly improved fit and comfort with a BIG kickback. Fully custom shapes make cable management an important issue as it changes the angle of the MMCX connection. I bought some sterling silver braided cords with a 45 degree MMCX plug which helped fit better around my ear. If I had to do it again I would definitely choose a 90 degree or right angle MMCX connection. I also recently bought a DragonFly Cobalt and I think I finally got the hang of this setup. Great natural sound. Nothing forced. Bass is tight and precise, mids are smooth and vibrant, and highs are airy and perfectly bright for my taste (using a standard blue filter). Enjoy!
