Review on 🎧 Top-rated Koss 155524 UR40 Collapsible Over-Ear Headphones: Unparalleled Comfort and Great Sound by Christine Allen

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best unamplified headphones. Koss legend at 60 ohms.

I use it with the Zalman Zm-Mic1 and I'm used to music and games. I've been using the UR40 on my computer almost every day since 2011 and I'm always looking for the best unamplified headphones on the market. That's all. In the last 15 years I have tried many headphones, mostly low frequency headphones. Sennheiser HD497, Sony MDR-V6, Koss connector, Sennheiser MX400, Sennheiser HD555. Maybe I forgot something, for example I used to have a Philips X2/27 Fidelio. Headphones are very personal, but I prefer any set of Koss 60 ohms over all. Koss 60 ohm kits are Koss Portapro, Sportapro, KSC35. , KSC75 and of course this kit. I prefer the sound of the KSC35 and Portapro over the others as they don't have a titanium coated driver. The UR40 is the most comfortable and I can't imagine using anything other than full size headphones at the table. PortaPros sound slightly better, but fit around your ears instead of around them. They are also very comfortable to wear for long periods of time. You've set a really low bar if you just stick to unimproved running. But they are exactly what I want to pay for headphones and will most likely exceed your expectations for the price. Good bass, good mids and good highs. In their class, they pack a little more bass power than any other I've tested and I like it without adding a messy sound. They need some alignment and if you have amplification available, even a PC motherboard with an amplifier built in, I think they will be modified to match the KSC35/PortaPro. I keep my Sennheiser headset/microphone next to the microphone. It started to let me down a long time ago, and while it's not high-end, you can definitely tell that you lose sonic detail in games and music compared to the UR40. If you find something that you think is better in the under $100 range from No Amplifier, let me know! As I prefer them to the Sennheiser HD558 I find that to be a difficult task. But I would like to try something different. Updated on 07/16/2018, my original rating stands! I'm using them right now.

Pros
  • Wide frequency response from 15 to 22,000 Hz
Cons
  • It pisses me off
