Review on Premium Pearl: Upgraded Bose SoundLink Mini Bluetooth Speaker II by Tom Goodlow

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very disappointed: buyers beware as usual. . . .

I have heard rave reviews of Bose products for many years. I knew they were expensive, but I've also heard that the quality is worth the price. So in August 2017 - on the recommendation of a friend - I bought this Mini BlueTooth Speaker II. After the usual ups and downs of learning its tricks (as it doesn't come with a great manual - although the best one is available online if you have the patience to search), I finally got it working with my laptop. and my iPod Nano for a while. Then I had to reset/reconnect/repair it over and over again. From time to time until my warranty expired. After that, I couldn't get the device to charge, which is a common problem according to the reviews here. after I called Bose. I haven't had this problem since.] However, I still had problems pairing/connecting with my devices: I had to do troubleshooting steps every few days. After several days of total disconnection, I called Bose again today, April 2nd, 2019 and was told I would have to send the speaker in and pay for the repair in which Bose would keep the speaker for about 3 weeks. Despite the discount on the price, I decided to toss it out to try it and go find another speaker from the usual suspects (Best Buy etc.). Oh, and by the way, the sound quality has never been amazing either. Not much better than my laptop speakers, but at least louder. Last time I took the risk of spending $$$$ on a Bose product. BTW I have to admit that on the 2 occasions I called customer service the people (both men) were helpful if not particularly cordial.

Pros
  • Not just useful for its intended purpose
Cons
  • Older model
