Review on Canon EOS 60D: 18MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera Body - Your Next Photography Companion by Avut Bouchen ᠌

No complaints, I recommend to buy.

Before that, I used a Canon SX100 (soap dish) and a 450d SLR. After the 450th, I was surprised by a really better picture in all respects: color depth, contrast, dynamic range of the matrix . I began to shoot in raw format and process it, the quality and color became even better. With Canon 40mm f2.8, 24-105mm f4 L, Sigma 50mm f1.4 lenses, the device proved itself just fine! With sigma, wonderful portraits began to turn out. For an evening landscape, there is still not enough dynamic range and you need to shoot at least in raw and even better with exposure bracketing +/- 2 steps. In reportage shooting, it also proved itself well with good autofocus. So he would live happily, be satisfied and use this device, but a physical misfortune happened to him and after that he was not subject to repair. They tempted me to switch to the Nikon 7000. I touched it, tried it - mechanically I liked it very much, but completely disappointed with the color reproduction, sharpness and micro-contrast of the pictures. For half a year I was tormented, looking for processing methods to correct the picture, but there was no satisfaction from the pictures, only from excellent mechanics. So I decided, despite the losses from resale, to switch back to Canon. Nikon left it purely for reporting, since there the control is really more convenient and faster. A couple of months ago, the idea was financially realized and the inspiration to shoot returned again - a beautiful picture, nice colors and sharpness again, sharpness returned!

Pros
  • Really good picture quality! Autofocus works well, does not smear on the central sensor. Convenient menu. The upper control roller is conveniently located under the index finger.
Cons
  • The swivel screen is a flimsy creature on a thin hinge! This design is needed only for video. Extra Q button, worthless, unused. Due to the recessed joypad inside the rotary ring, sometimes fuzzy switching, especially when pressed at 45 degrees when shifting the focus point. Quite loud and hard, by modern standards, the shutter slams. Uncomfortably low (unlike Nikon) is the joypad and swivel ring on the back of the case. When squeezed, the shutter button is tight, sometimes causing a stir (unlike Nikon).
