Review on 🧩 Melissa & Doug Animal Wooden Puzzles: Enhancing Cognitive Skills Through Play by Carlos Whitfield

EDIT: HAPPY! (formerly called "disappointment ")

I bought this puzzle set for my daughter's Easter basket. I wouldn't call it a "great deal" - you just get what you pay for. This is a kind of hybrid between traditional cardboard puzzles and wooden puzzles, the base of which is made of thin plywood and covered with a cardboard illustration. As soon as we have opened it and played it gently, the cardboard cover is already turning white at the edges! If I had seen them in a store before buying I would have definitely skipped it and instead spent a bit more for a nice, solid wood, painted wooden puzzle. is a November 2015 update): Although they initially wore out a little, they have held up very well and seem to be a lot more durable than I thought they would be. My attitude towards these puzzles has changed. My daughter still loves it and plays with it almost every day. Now that she is older she also likes to play with animals, making them "talk", eat, sleep etc. with appropriate sounds, almost like playing with paper dolls or figurines. They held up both in terms of durability and entertainment, so I really think they ended up being a good deal. :) No, not "traditional" wooden puzzles, but we love them anyway. I hope my earlier comments are still useful in terms of learning, but fear not, they haven't noticeably continued to peel or chip, which says a lot for puzzles preserved in childhood so far!
