My first hob, like others, had a lot of cracks. I didn't unpack/discover them until I took the old one out - so I had to reinstall the old one. i wasn't happy The new stove works perfectly. It's a bit silly with an elongated burner. I had no choice but to replace my cold cracked GE cooktop due to a cut out in the countertop. GE has resized. After a long search, this is the only one that fits (Frigidaire was too deep). The difficulty was what we in the US refer to as different wires. The Chinese translated the instructions into Great British English, not American English/Terms. I have black, red, bare copper and cream wires from my wall. Bare copper and cream were paired together. For the new hob I connected the copper/cream wire to the yellow/green wire called ground in the directions. In America we call it neutral. I connected the red line from my wall to the brown line (called the straight line in the directions). I connected the black wire from my wall to the blue wire from the hob. be zapped with 220 volts. I hope this is helpful
