First of all, it easily handles my 39" flat screen TV, which is within the specified weight limit. You don't have to pay more for a high-performance model, unless your TV is heavier. It fits 39" good and can probably fit a little more if the weight is under 40lbs and you measure the base of your TV to make sure it fits. The turntable looks better as you can tell from the photo.. The wood structure is clearly visible through the black finish. It rotates easily and nicely. It looks curved in the photo, but it's flat. It doesn't lift the TV up very much, which is a plus. I haven't measured it, but it looks that way about 1/2" space below the platform to the table, I placed it so that it has a fairly low profile. I set it up on a narrow Queen Anne style console table with slim legs, so I was looking for something lightweight. The table didn't move when I added this. No discernible difference to the weight of the platform (which I checked before ordering). It works well with a console or coffee table. If in doubt, measure the width. It spins easily and stays where you spin it (if only the connections to your TV aren't too short and don't pull it back.)
