Review on Hurtta Summit Parka Winter Orange by Sara Daly

Coco approved! - Dogs

She's a lifeguard from Alabama. Their fur is very short. It doesn't take much to make them tremble. I decided to buy her a new winter jacket. I chose this one because it doesn't have velcro. This is a jumpsuit where her head fits in a hole with an extended collar that goes to the back of her head. Then slide the flap over her chest and under her stomach where the reflective belt runs across the top and snaps into a plastic buckle on the other side. I'm not sure if this will be a problem for men. The sections through which their hind legs pass are sewn in with elastic bands. At first I thought they might be too loose, but there are three belts with clips (collar, withers, tail) to personalize the fit. Before I tightened the laces, I thought. She seemed to swim in it. I was concerned that the rear end would get in her way as she went about her business. First, with the coat fully on and her legs through the back straps, I tightened the cord at the withers and pulled the back of the coat back. It pressed the cloak against her chest. I then gently tugged on the string at the base of her tail and this defined the hind leg sections more clearly. Finally I pulled the collar around her neck as far as it would go and tightened that cord - it didn't fit snugly around her neck. . Some reviews mention that decals can peel off over time, but more permanent reflectors can be sewn on. Good news, the back of the jacket doesn't get in the way when nature calls! We were outside in the rain and she stays dry except for her head. It's advertised as waterproof but I would say it's "fairly water resistant", I don't think it will hold up to heavy rain as well as my Barbour. I'm definitely impressed and Coco seems to enjoy walking in it. I put it on her when the temp is below 40 F and so far we've been under 20 outside with no side effects. When winter comes I will watch over them; If that doesn't keep her warm in colder temperatures, I'll consider getting her a Hurtta Extreme Warmer. Generally two paws up!
