Ok first of all, can we address all the outrage that these are coming from China? Let's turn it around - what if China was able to make masks and they had a surplus, but refused to export them to the US? I'm sure the same people who are complaining now would be outraged at that scenario too. The risk of getting sick from these because they were made in China (possibly Wuhan - the box on mine says Made in China, distributed by company with Wuhan address) is way lower than the risk that an infected ebay warehouse worker in the US packaged them up for you. Wouldn't the risk be the same with US manufactured masks, considering we have a pandemic here too? If your concern is on economic principles, then take a look around your house (and the rest of your ebay order history) and get rid of everything made in China before you get rid of the one thing that might actually keep you a little bit safer these days.Ok, now that I'm done with that, about the masks themselves. My one complaint is that they're kind of large, but that's my problem because I have a small face. They do come with a metal nose piece, that helps with fit, but really they are open on the sides anyway, as all similar masks are. They're just general purpose run of the mill masks. Yes, they are three-ply. No, they are not surgical masks - they are not claimed to be, and if they were then they would be allocated to hospitals, not the general public. No, they are not "guaranteed" to protect against the virus - FWIW, the FDA doesn't allow ANY masks to claim full protection from viruses. They really just cut down on how much airborne viruses you inhale. (Google FDA FAQ on shortage of surgical masks and gowns)I'm glad to have found these in stock, and ebay delivered them in 2 business days - thank you to all essential workers who are out there working while the rest of us have the luxury of staying at home and working from home. Those of you tossing them in the trash should offer them to your neighbours who would be more than happy to take them off your hands.
