I use these on a snow groomer that has the engine in the cabin, closed and isolated but still very noisy. With headphones, noise is greatly reduced and communication is much better. Communication can also be extended to other vehicles or while the operator is outside checking distances or equipment. I think the range in these conditions is about 200 inches. It also helps when driving a cat onto or off a trailer with a spotter. Having a set of four also allows me to keep in touch with other crew members and let them know when I could make a quick turn or climb or descend a hill so they can get ready.
