Give him a chance if you don't like him at first.
I didn't like it at first. I've never used a tool like this before, but now that I've used it, I love it! At first I found it too flexible, but in use it was never a problem. I bought a sewing stylet but haven't used it. I love how I kept poking through my fabric so the purple rag really helped with that.
