I recently bought a full size TV for my basement playroom. This is a Samsung 65" QLED (2018 model) and it has no analog audio outputs, only an optical digital output. I had a pair of powered studio monitor speakers and a pair of powered subwoofers that I wanted to use with the TV. I bought them a few years ago a cheap basic optical analog DAC It worked but without adjusting the volume the speakers always played at full volume When using my gaming PC as the source I was able to adjust the PC volume but when using the game on consoles there was there isn't an easy way to adjust the volume without adjusting all four active speakers separately.DAC for that and I can finally control the volume.I agree with some of the other reviews that the volume knob could have been more discreet but that's reasonable enough since I just wanted the speakers not to crank the volume up to max use the pc so i can adjust the volume with it f one can set, but now I can play consoles and the whole house doesn't shake. The sound quality seems pretty good. I had a weird buzzing noise with my old DAC, which I don't find so bad with this one.
