These are great containers but they say the jar is BPA free but they don't mention plastic lids which is dodgy. However, I bought them and after my first use I quickly realized that these lids are tight. That's good and bad as I couldn't even tear the lid off after unlocking it. If you have mobility issues, arthritis or grip/strength issues this may not be for you. I have never experienced this. Luckily I ran it under hot water and took it off. Don't squeeze all the air out when you put the cap on, you may never take it off. They also require a bit of force that you don't expect to snap into place. Otherwise durable and beautiful, but if you're looking for 100% BPA-free, it doesn't list it on the packaging and you may want to purchase another.
