Solid toothbrush head. For a "soft" brush, the bristles are quite hard (maybe they get softer the more you use them, but they're too hard for my gums). I don't really understand what charcoal is because the bristles are super shiny black plastic. There are 4 different finger locations on the handle. It's more like a strong dirty brush than a toothbrush. It cleans no better than the simplest small-headed oral brush. Probably the most useless toothbrush I've ever seen. There are about 6 different types of bristles, all pointing in different directions, with some being of different lengths than others. Overall very dissatisfied.
