The cables seem strong but the bulbs don't automatically screw in as the rails on the inside of the lamp don't line up with the bulbs so it takes quite a bit of fiddling. You may need to tighten the bulb firmly, which can be difficult with bulbs like this, they tend to be very fragile and if you wiggle too much the filament will snap. If the bulb doesn't light up, just hold it close to your ear and shake it a little, you can hear the broken filament shaking inside, so you need to get a new bulb. 😒 I've already sorted out a few light bulbs and fixed my 3 lamps. But otherwise a great product. Sturdy cord with dimmer, the bulbs are well packaged, they are just very fragile and people forget to handle them carefully. Two of mine came out of the box with a broken filament, and another broke trying to replace a bulb in my old salt lamp. 😿🤷🤓
