Don't ask me how I broke the buttonhole foot that came with the machine. I'm not really sure. All I know is that the spring and some of the plastic from it shattered, and after that I never put the parts back together. For a number of years I have been making the buttonholes I need by tapping the buttonhole tab with my fingers, which is not only somewhat painful, tedious, often inconsistent and sometimes just doesn't work. So far I have avoided buttonholes whenever possible. I had to make 4 suits, all with buttoned shirts, long buttoned cuffs on the sleeves and a set of matching waistcoats. I had to do almost 100 loops as fast as possible and I couldn't manually move the flag like before. Although the SE-400 wasn't listed on this (or any other) route, I took a chance and ordered it. It arrived yesterday and by this evening I had two shirts finished with this foot. I don't know if it matches the original foot perfectly, but it's definitely good enough to enable the automatic stitch sections and that's all I could ask for. If you need a replacement, look no further. Trust me, I've searched everywhere for the right foot for my machine and have never found a listing on Revain or anywhere else that even lists what this one offers.
