100% worth the investment. Very impressive. Don't worry about cheaper boots that don't fit you. If the gaiters are too flexible, your dog may trip and injure himself. These boots were easy to put on, fit great and stayed on for the entire 2 hour hike. (Check from time to time that your dog's paw isn't moving back, and then adjust the strap tension if necessary. The velcro strap works great, but if it's not tight enough at first, the dog's paws will move.) Boots were sturdy and allowed my dog to run and play without slipping on the ice. The fabric rises high enough on a small dog to provide extra warmth and prevent snow from getting on top. It took him a few tries to get used to the boots, but after some practice he didn't notice them at all. They're comfortable enough that he doesn't hate them, and he doesn't chew on them while trying to take them off, which was a pleasant surprise. The boots are waterproof and will keep your feet warm and dry. Didn't walk in puddles so can't comment on how they hold up when they get completely wet, but they were great in the snow. After removing my boots, there was no sign of reddening from the cold, scrapes or cuts from ice on his feet. Fits true to size. The XXS was fine for my 10lb Maltipoo but be sure to measure before buying.
