Put simply, this is a poor product. First, it is not a tree but a composite, a product made from compressed wood (sawdust) and not a product made from a single piece of wood. .It absorbs its color into the soap. As I placed a packet of Cade shaving soap in this bowl, I noticed that the edge of the soap turned dark red where it touched the "wood". I don't know what's in the finish but it soaks into the soap and I don't want that color on my face. A crack formed very quickly in the lower bowl. This thing is not worth the money they charge. To be honest, I wouldn't take it for free.
