These are definitely thicker brown kraft paper bags and a bit wider than grocery store paper bags. Think supermarket paper bags and 2-3 times the thickness of this paper bag - that's it. The thickness suits me well. It looks very sturdy and the bottoms are sealed well. I've put in about 100 packs of heavy disposable paper plates and more heavy tissues while carrying these packs and they seem to hold them up very well and aren't afraid to open up from the bottom. The only minor thing is that the handles feel flimsy and I'm not sure about holding the handles on my own when there are a lot of heavy things in the bag. So I'd say carry by the handles, but have your other hand hold on to the bottom as well - just in case. Otherwise I can recommend these bags unreservedly. They seem to have thicker paper and that's very useful.
