These shoes are cute, well made and most importantly they stay on my dog! The problem I've had with dog boots (with rubber bladders and rain covers available at petsmart) in the past is that my dog would always slide down or tip over the rubber sole while walking, so he would always walk on fabric instead of shoe soles. Thanks to the zipper on these boots (combined with the velcro) they actually fit my dog's paws snugly and don't shift or slip while walking or slide off. However, I think they are best suited to calm walkers as sudden bursts of movement (pile after deer etc.) still make the shoe fly. Durable rubber soles are ideal for protecting your dog's paws from salt or inclement weather. Cons: - shoes are foam (not fully waterproof) - wish they were more insulated fabric for wintertime/cold weather - still fall if your dog is particularly fierce - runs small (make sure you get the actually measured your dog's paws; my dog wears medium jackets (he's a small dog) but needs large shoes)
