Review on Herda Cast Iron Cleaner Brush: Soldered Fine Chainmail Scrubber for Effortless Skillet & Griddle Cleaning by Rose Washington

Great cast iron washcloth!

I use cast iron cookware all the time, including several items that are over 100 years old. They are very non-stick, but sometimes a light cleaning is still required. This beautifully designed chain brush has a plastic handle, silicone pad and thin chain mail covering it. The way the chainmail wraps around the edges gives you an edge to use in the corners to pull everything out. I've seen many chain scrapers that are more like a piece of cloth with no handle to hold on to. Also, it's best to clean pans when they're hot, straight off the stove, the all-metal pad won't burn your hand. This gives you a nice grip to hold so you can use it on a hot pan and your hands are safe! stuck in them. Food can still get stuck between the mail and the silicone pad, but it's much easier to remove if this is the case, usually just a hot water rinse will do. As far as I can tell all chainrings are machine welded so shouldn't fall apart or come undone. I think it works best for raw black cast iron and possibly carbon steel pots or woks. I wouldn't use it on shiny or chrome items as it will likely scratch it, and definitely not for nonstick pans.
