Quality at an affordable price

I've had both the ION Air Pro and now the S3000. I bought both devices specifically for use on my motorcycle. I returned the Air Pro after the camera mount broke in traffic and the camera fell off a piece of line. My reaction to trying to save him nearly cost me an accident. As mentioned, the S3000 is the base model without all the options of the AirPro series. It would be bad if I had some camera apps planned, but all I ask is that I mount them securely to the handlebars and capture clear video with the occasional still. It performs these functions perfectly as advertised, which is all you can ask. I find that the product description is wrong in regards to water resistance: the spec says "Waterproof to 3 METERS" not 3 feet). Interestingly, the design is the same as the AirPro, which is advertised as having a water resistance of up to 10 meters. Another note: 2.5 hours of video is A LOT of video; The average length of most feature films is 90 minutes. Most video clips/scenes are between 10 and 30 seconds long. So I don't see 2.5 hours of battery life as a disadvantage, especially since 2.5 hours of video roughly corresponds to the capacity of a 16 GB SDHC (Micro) card. While the capacity of a 32GB memory card may be impressive, for the vast majority of amateur videographers it is essentially overkill. Those reading this review may be wondering why I invested in ION after my first (almost out of body) experience with the Air Pro. SIMPLE: For the money, the ION is a great camera. But second, when I bought my Air Pro, it came with the camlock mounting system - with some additional camlock connectors. There was no information that a more secure standard tripod screw mount was available. The S3000 came with a more secure screw mount (the product image is inaccurate as it shows a cam-lock mount) and this tipped the scales in its favour. Pros: cost. Video quality Reliable attachment system Cons: Seat belt was not included. (DO NOT mount this camera without a tether) As a PS, I made a tether using a 40lb test line and some swivel clamps commonly used for attaching fishing lures.
