I have been using Vornado air purifiers for over 15 years and they have all been good. I've had this for a week now. I have this machine in my bedroom. It does a good job of cleaning the air. My asthma is much better now. I have read negative reviews about many brands and devices. The most common were noise levels, strange noises and the smell of smoke. I can tell you that this unit is louder than the large unit I have in my living room. i like noise It has a low fan noise that is a bit like car noise. Not as loud as I would like. Once it gave off a smoky smell for about half an hour. I had a ceiling fan at the time, so I believe it was forcing air back into the unit, causing airflow issues from the Vornado, forcing air back, or making it difficult for air to circulate into the room. No ceiling fan = no problem with odors. The first night he made a piercing noise for about half an hour. I moved it a bit further away from the dresser it was next to and the problem was solved. He hasn't done it since then. The nice thing is that the instruction manual is very well done by someone who actually speaks English! So rare these days. Not sure if this is a US made product or assembled here but the company must be based here. I've never had a problem getting new filters for my 15 year old car and I don't expect any problems with my new ones either. I love this Vornado and would buy it again.
