I am one of those hot sleepers who nevertheless likes to have covers on me to sleep well. However, my bedroom can get HOT, so I've been on a quest all summer to find the right bedding. I HAVE FOUND IT! I adore this blanket. So much so that I've purchased a second to use as a throw! The only downside is that the weight is imperceptible compared to my top sheet, so this blanket won't provide the sort of comforting weight that is helpful for sleep. One side is breathable cotton, which while neutral in temperature, will be quite nice on chilly spring or autumn evenings. The other is silky and cool to the touch. It does warm up as it absorbs body heat, but they all do, and I find that the blanket overall stays cool even if one section gets warmer. (It also doesn't seem to warm up past body temperature; it stops feeling as cool, but never feels hot.) If you are looking for a blanket that snuggles you when it's on top of you, this isn't it -- but if you're looking for a blanket that is light and breathable and cool, that you can wrap yourself in without overheating, then this is definitely it!UPDATE:I deducted a star for some small things. I ended up exchanging the original one (the green color) for the purple color because I like purple, but I think it was a mistake. It's hard to tell from the pictures, but with the green, both sides (q-max and cotton) are a light teal and white mix, and are roughly the same shade. It looks nice. With the purple, one side (the q-max) is a lightish purple with white mix, but the other is a darker purple and no white (the cotton side). IMO it looks cheaper than the green, which is a great disappointment. I also got a smaller one to use as a throw, but the cotton is coarser, showing inconsistency in the product. (A wash might solve that, but if not, I'd no longer be able to return it.) Altogether, of the three purchases, the very first one I got is somehow better than the other two. This makes me reluctant to exchange either of them. What will I end up with next? It's also worth noting that 79"x89" isn't nearly as large as I would have liked for a queen sized bed, and you cannot tuck the blanket into the bed on the sides. I can barely tuck it in on the bottom. It's still a nice blanket and I enjoy sleeping with mine, but I will regret that stupid purple cotton til the day I die.
