I have a four poster bed that is over 20 years old with three wooden slats to support the mattress. I recently bought a new set of mattresses that were larger and heavier than my old one and I wanted to make sure the bed could support them. (or slightly higher) now carry most of the mattress' weight and stabilize the bed by dampening most mattress movements. (Any, um, vigorous movement would normally shake the stands; now they barely budge.) They're easy to assemble and require no instructions, which is good since no instructions are included. Just look at the picture to see what goes where. The job goes very quickly if you screw the top V-shaped piece into the planks with a drill or impact wrench, but you can also do it by hand (although this can be tricky if the planks are hardwood).
