I bought these hoping they were flat plates with an edge and the pictures might look like this . . The plates are shaped like very, very small bowls. If you put something spicy or juicy on a plate, it will pile up in the middle with other foods, which is a notable downside given how large they are. You can't place one of the matching sauce bowls on one side of the bowl without the sauce sloshing around the corner. If you want the bowl to stand up straight, it needs to be perfectly centered. If you force cut the steak on one side of the plate, the plate will tip over (as I've seen someone else do). They're good enough that I don't have to return them, but they're not my dream dishes. . It's a shame because I bought the complete set. Also, one record was broken and Revain only gave me the option to return the ENTIRE BOX. I've already unpacked and washed the decals, I didn't want to repack to replace the bottom broken panel. I wish there was a way to request a refund for defective parts only.
