I didn't actually buy them to carry hot or cold food. If I eat a bowl of soup or stew, it takes forever, and in a regular bowl, it gets cold after 5 minutes. These bowls make every spoon hot! If so, give it a try and enjoy your hot meal no matter how long it takes you to eat it! I'm sure I'll use the big ones to keep company or bring something for my dad who only has 5 minutes and also loves his food hot as do I! Really light but the handles are great for holding, if you also have arthritis you can actually hold it well.
