My cat raises its paws. The food is excellent. The bag has a zip closure at the top to keep it fresh. I love it because it's not chicken based (I'm allergic to poultry). When it goes into the litter box at the other end, everything is solid and doesn't smell too bad. Just a warning, be sure to read the guidelines for feeding amounts. The nutrient content is higher than most foods and you don't need to feed as much per serving. This is great for my busy, active kitty who doesn't take long to eat, but for less active cats you may need to change up the routine a bit.
