Review on Adjustable Temperature πŸ”§ Desoldering Tool for Electronics Soldering by Aaron Shaw

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Cheap kit, useful, good soldering instructions

Only four stars at first glance The kit contains everything that can be seen in the first photo. However, some photos show a roll of wicking material and a second pair of pointed tweezers, neither of which are included with this kit. I was disappointed with it, but not too much. I have to be extra careful not to throw the iron back in the bag until it's completely cool, the inside is covered in some sort of plastic or nylon. But for the price, it's good value even without the two items in the photos below. The soldering iron manual is better than most bad Chinese translations. They are mostly clear and actually contain good advice. Section A: Using the Welding Nozzle contains some important tips for new users. Things like "caution: do not scrape the welding tip with a rasp" are pretty clear. Many new users may not be aware that it is possible to ruin the tip by grinding or sawing off debris. it should be cleaned with a damp sponge or damp cloth before slag forms. "#15 Children are not aware of the dangers of iron, so this product should be placed where children cannot easily reach it." another good instruction; it's just common sense, but how common is common sense? Finally, it contains about eight pieces of colored wire, very thin. I had no idea about them, but they were useful when soldering to small hobby DC motors. God I only give this set five stars for the (mostly) clear instructions, despite the slightly misleading photos. However, if you don't already have a big, heavy coil iron holder like I do, spend another $3 and buy a kit that includes one. The tiny iron holder in this set is not entirely harmless.

Pros
  • Soldering iron with on/off switch: Soldering iron kit with on/off switch, easy to save energy and ensure safe welding. You only have to turn it off when you don't want to use it. The insulating silica gel on the iron can effectively protect the iron from high temperature ironing or the iron tips falling off.
Cons
  • Something different
