Review on Danco FLT231T Black Toilet Tank 🚽 Flapper Replacement – An Optimized Alternative Solution by Levi Stewart

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Ingeniously simple: rough installation

I was prepared to go through all sorts of plumber's horrors to install this replacement drain valve. At least I imagined that I would have to remove the cistern and the dirt that went with it. It turned out that the hardest part of this repair was removing the old leaking muffler. The designers clearly put a lot of thought into the installation and put a lot of effort into making it painless. The only minor flaw with my setup was that the overflow pipe in my toilet was a bit too small, but the Danco kit came with a tapered gasket that slid down to center things properly. After removing the old shock and grip, the actual installation of this kit took only five minutes. The closing action is very positive and I checked with the dye in the tank that it closes completely every time. [Second time, different toilet] I ordered and installed a second unit in a different bathroom. Same positive results. The only additional tip I can give others when installing is to wipe down the throttle body seat after removing the old one and make sure you push STRONG on it when you put the new block in and make sure the black rubber band is complete before tightening after below. I still find the concept "brilliantly simple".

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
