Review on Targus Pro-Tek Apple IPad (6Th / 5Th Gen) by Terrance Singletary

NO PROTECTION! Failed on day 3!

I had the case for 2 days, I really liked it. My last iPad lasted 6 years so I needed a case that would last well and protect my new iPad for a long time. I have a navy which has gone up in price since I bought it (maybe because there is only one navy left). The material looks like a durable rubber material but doesn't feel rubbery; he is skinny. My old case was a used leather case which still fully protected my old device despite being dropped several times over the years. The Targus LOOKS durable and has a strong magnetic closure. I liked the technical look of the front and how you can position the tablet at any angle you want. The case is quite heavy but overall I was happy with the purchase up to the 3rd day and finally felt safe to use my new iPad - that was a mistake! When my iPad was placed neatly in the case and the case closed on my desk, I accidentally moved something that gently pushed the case off the standard-height desk and onto the carpet. The glass and frame of my iPad are broken! I'm exhausted! The Targus packaging boasts that the case "passes all 4-foot drop tests". I'm here to tell you it failed the 32 inch thick carpet drop test! I will report this after contacting Targus. he apologized for the 'inconvenience' but the 4 foot drop test only applies to the electronics, not the screen, per the Targus Terms of Service! My iPad is unusable! I click on it. I am writing to Targus Corporate Headquarters. It's outrageous that "military 4-foot drop test" is their main praise for the device. It's just not right.

Pros
  • Handy thing
Cons
  • A bit of change
