TLDR, This mic is worth it! First let me say that I'm new to filming with the Sony a6300. I've tried recording with the built-in microphone, but the built-in leaves something to be desired. One of my videographer friends mentioned that an extra mic would do wonders for the audio and suggested I start with something like this mic. This is a great device that comes with lots of accessories (windscreen, windscreen, 2 audio cables and a carrying case). I also tried this mic on an iPhone 6s+ and it works great. Conveniently plug and play. The tripod mount works well and the body is surprisingly very sturdy and well made (even has a foam insert for organization). When I used the mic, I was outside on a slightly windy day and the windshields seemed to do the trick. The worlds are better than the built-in ones and it's value for money.
