A pair of spoon holders are perfect - one black, one white - as an accent in my kitchen. All my gear is white and black. They are dishwasher safe - just pop them in the dishwasher with the rest of the dishes after dinner. So easy to clean. I put two photos of spoon holders in my kitchen on the counter next to the stove. You can also see the Brighter Barns salt and pepper shakers in the photos so you can get an idea of what they look like in the set. The last photo is of my daughter's recently renovated kitchen where I think they would fit perfectly. I gave 4 stars for durability just because they are ceramic but are pretty strong on their own. If I only needed one, I would go for the black BC that says "spoon".
