We are building a new house with pet doors but at the moment we are in a townhouse with no yard so our puppy will need to be escorted outside. We attached this cowbell to a string and hung it on the front door. Our pup rings the bell when he needs to go to the potty (and sometimes just when he wants to go outside and play on the lawn). It was easy to teach her. We just "helped" her every time we went potty for a week or so, now she does it herself. This is a great tool for us while we wait around our house (and fenced yard and pet doors !). We even gave it to her grandparents when they sat down for the weekend. We put it on the back door, showed the pup he was there and they reported that she rang the bell when she wanted out. It was really a great tool for us!
