Review on πŸ”’ Dritz 16K Snap Fasteners 'Easy Attacher' Kit, Nickel, Size 15 (3/8-Inch) & Size 16 (7/16-Inch) by Amy Mcleod

It worked somehow.

Pros: Inexpensive Comes with four size 16 fasteners More or less works. Cons: Awkward to use - There are two indentations to accommodate the serrated portion of each half of the bar, one for a size 15 bar and one for a size 16 bar. You only have about 1 inch of room past the bar. So if, like in my case, you need to build a 3" latch into the fabric, you have to fold the fabric twice toward you, which won't completely close the device even if you hit it with a hammer, and the fasteners don't fit snugly into the fabric as desired. Also, it's really difficult to keep the notched ring from coming out of the recess when you lower the middle layer of the device. How many hammer blows are rated for moderately hard plastic, but probably not too many when it takes four more fasteners. Installing the fastener on a piece of tarp took over an hour due to the above difficulties four fasteners not set correctly one of the teeth is sticking out of the retaining ring (luckily it wasn't for clothes ) and one protrudes into the center of the ring. I think if I had ever seen or used one of these I would have known and expected their shortcomings, but that has been my experience. If you install numerous locks (aside from the fact that you're then surely someone who already knows about them), you should probably go with one of the real locks. On the other hand, if like me you only need to install four bindings and don't care what size binding you install, you can expect to save $15-$20. If it's worth the effort and time, I would do it.

Pros
  • Button fasteners are used as fasteners for sewing and DIY repairs
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
