The design is thought out to the smallest detail and holds up perfectly. The main compartment opens on the front of the backpack lying on the back. To access this area, rotate the bag around your waist until it is in front of you and rotate so the waist straps are snug but not tight. I was changing lenses 5-10 times a day, inserting/removing camera just as many times, accessing batteries, filters, snacks and clothes - all day, daily from 8am to 8pm. The bag worked perfectly. The zippers were smooth and easy to find and use. The material of the bag was durable and resistant to stains and abrasions. The floor still looks new after being dragged through Disney rides and thrown onto the floor from cars, boats, trains and concrete walkways all week. The top compartment was easily accessible. The grip tapes are strong and durable. The waist straps were quick and easy to attach and tighten. The only thing I could fault was the modern types of Fastex clips on the waist straps which, due to their shape, seemed a bit more difficult to center as opposed to the old square male/female which are a bit lighter. feel the way together.
