Updated after 9 months I have to give it 4 stars Love the light for my African The colors are great Just hope the remote and cord hold up! Update 6 months later: they have replaced the remote but there is still a question as to how long the new one will last and if they will do the replacement after the one year warranty has expired. I would hope so, but they didn't answer my specific questions, so that worries me. Upgrade to 1 Star in 4 Months: You can see my original 5 star review below. I've got a big problem right now, the remote's power button has failed and this is the only way to turn it on and off. Unfortunately, the potential problem I warned about in my original 5 star review turned out to be true. No matter how good the light is, it's only as good as its weakest link, which is the remote control and the thin cable to the sensor. I liked the light so much that I bought another one and now use a different remote control. The remote only lasted about 2-1/2 months before becoming intermittently unreliable. Then the power button just stopped working. Even if they replace it within a year after the warranty, what should I do if the replacement ends after 18 months? Do I need to purchase replacement remote controls for the remainder of the lamp's life? Very disappointed in a product I really liked. Initial 5-star review: owned, two months. It meets all my expectations and more. Cloud effects may seem frivolous if you've never had them, but they're super cool when you make them. When you look at your fish, it seems like clouds are passing overhead. I can only recommend this lamp, it is a bit expensive but worth the money. Will be updated if problems arise. This should not be construed as a defect, but there are weaknesses in the design of each product, although there are weaknesses here: 1 infrared receiving lens on the wire for flexibility in placement, this thin wire never requires gentle and loving care, it can damage repaired if my clumsiness ever damages it, although it is about 2-3 feet long when unfolded. 2-The only light control is on the infrared remote, the remote works great now, but I use a similar one for my air conditioner and it has temperamental performance at times. Again, this is not a disadvantage but a potential weakness. I will probably buy another one and have back and front lights on my glass dome as I love them so much I will have two remotes which should last a lifetime. :) Update: Bought a second one, will be buying a third when I re-tune my 55 gallon.
