Nice curls, but not such a nice dream

I curl my hair quite often, it can be time consuming and it can damage my hair. I wanted a no-heat solution and maybe one I could sleep in so I could curl my hair overnight and wake up ready to go. These curlers met some of my expectations, but not by much. I have finer, 2b length hair that's slightly longer than my natural waistline. When I first tried these curlers, I washed my hair and let it air dry a bit. It was about 80% wet and I applied a light volumizing gel and curling serum before putting on the curlers. The application was relatively easy. I had a few snags here and there where my hair would get tangled or caught in the flattened tube. In such cases, I would have to pull out that particular strand and start over. Quick tip: Comb this section of hair, hook it, then squeeze the tube to open it while pulling your hair through. The hook does not create a large enough hole to facilitate hooking. Opening the flattened tube makes it easier for your hair to slide through. Another thing to note is that I have a hair length that counts as longer, so I found I had about an inch of hair left at the bottom. It wasn't the deal breaker I was looking for. But if you have longer hair and are looking for the perfect top-down curls, just understand that this may not provide the coverage you want. Wrap them in scarves to keep them together while you sleep. It was at least an interesting process. Imagine trying to wrap a bundle of tight-fitting underpants so they don't pop out. As I lay down I noticed a slight discomfort at first, but figured I could ignore it so I could at least nod off and fall into a deep sleep. Yes. not as much. I tossed and turned to find a more comfortable position. But after getting some sleep and tossing and turning for a few hours, I decided to give up. Defeated, I pulled out the curlers but was pleasantly surprised to see that my hair was dry and the curls that came out were gorgeous. In fact, I commend this product for creating great bouncy curls. I took off all the curlers, carefully wrapped my hair back in a handkerchief, and got back on the bed. When I got up, to my disappointment, the curls looked more like very limp waves. This could have happened for a variety of reasons that have nothing to do with the product. All in all, here is my recommendation. This is a great unheated option that I would recommend, but it's not a comfortable option for an overnight stay. I mean they can be if you have a high pain threshold I guess. But for me this option is not passed. I would try them again but maybe for a day when I would have time to apply them during the day and wait for them to dry. So for the no heat option I would say it's a winner. In terms of comfort, I don't think they score as an overnight option. So I give 4 stars for the beautiful no heat curls and say they lose a star just like I lost a few hours of sleep that night.
