If my 4 cats rate this then definitely 5 stars for them. This scratching post is 31 inches tall. My cats were already excited when unpacking and assembling. What they particularly enjoy are the 2 balls that are built into the grooves on the cardboard bottom of the scraper. The base of the board at the bottom is stable and holds it. All of my cats are adult, 3 to 12 years old and weigh anywhere from just under 10 pounds to probably over 15 pounds. There is a small sealed bag of catnip in the kit but I haven't even opened it. I had to use some catnip that I already have in other places like the packing box to distract some of the cats so everyone can work with the new toys on the base and scratching post. My rating is 5 stars because it keeps my cats busy. Now that some of the new ones are worn out, there are times when they don't get used. The sound of balls on the bottom when a cat plays with it is a quick warning to other cats who want to see what's going on and play too. Since these cats already have several scratching posts and cat toys, I am thrilled and have to agree to 5 stars.
